DON’T BOW
TEXT: DANIEL 3:1-30
MEMORY VERSE: "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." (Daniel 3:17-18 KJV)
In our text today, an unrighteous decree was passed by a King who knew not the Almighty God and had taken into captivity certain of the Hebrews. The decree was for all in that land, bond or free to bow down before a certain image.
They were in a strange land, far away from their home managing to adapt to the ways of the people. However when it came to the issues bordering on who to serve, these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were clear and did not mince words when they said to the king that they would not bow to any other god. Indeed they did not and were thrown into the burning furnace but God delivered them.
With all the strange things happening everywhere, is someone reading this devotional already bowing, considering bowing or standing firm? Inspite of the pressure being mounted on you on a daily basis, please do not bow to any other gods no matter the form and shape they appear.
